…which is actually somewhat of a lie. You know, we play plenty of games here on X360 that seem to have been coded by a chimp and a tombola, but never have we seen one with so much charm. Maybe it’s the fact that it doesn’t have any competition barring a ten second distraction in other parlour game titles, maybe we just have a soft spot the irony in darts players being sponsored by ‘Mr. Porky’s’.

Whatever it is, PDC World Championship Darts has made our Thursday morning with its unique brand of ultra-simplistic gameplay. The reeree is actually death, as well. Which is nice. Anyway, it’s not going to set the world on fire, but if you like sportsmen that look like burns victims, check out issue 38 for the review in a few weeks’ time…

As you read this all those lucky journalists are sampling the delights of the Leipzig Gaming Convention. Especially our sister mag 360, those lucky devils. We’re pretty upset here on the X360 team as none of us got to go. I’ve only been here three weeks and I would have walked over my own Mum to get a ticket.

Ah well, there’s always next year.

He’s very excited about the fact that the new Metallica album will be available for download through Guitar Hero III world wide on day one. It’s nice to have a hobby.

Installation was actually pretty tricky. No manual came with David and we had to spend many hours repeatedly spinning his chair back around to prevent immediate comfort. After an hour or so, though it started leaking from its mouth and there was a bad smell. Once we were over the teething troubles, though, we gave it some basic tasks to complete.

First off, we gave it some NBA 09 code to see how it dealt with unfamiliar software. The model proved to be quite adaptable, mastering most aspects of the game withing a day. We did have to feed it around halfway through the day, which is a little more maintenance than we would normally like to partake of, but it seems to run on salads, which are pretty easy. After probing its various attributes, we discovered that it doesn’t like football. Dave was pretty adamant that we should have ordered the football-loving model; as it is, Dave now has nothing to talk about with David. Dave can only talk about football; other subjects are treated with the same derision one would normally afford an affectionate leper.

During our podcast, it performed adequately, chipping in with useful comment on a number of games.  Next time, we’re going to try poking it with sticks to get more out of it, though. Or feeding it more salads.

Overall we were impressed and might have to consider giving it some games to look at that aren’t utter balls.

First impressions are they’re awesome, even if they do make us the biggest geeks in the history of geeks! Still, there’s 7 days to go so who knows what adventures Dan and myself will get up to in our new, super cool footwear!

Sorry about the delay with this but sometimes life has a funny way of piling up the list of things to do!

Anyway, to be blunt, Resident Evil 5, closely followed by Fallout 3, was my game of the show. The nostalgia of playing Resident Evil 4 is too strong to resist and although Capcom may receive a tough time from some for refusing to update its control scheme, I support them 100%! I will say that there’s a good chance Fallout 3 would’ve taken the crown, but it’s impossible to do that when I was only allowed 30 minutes with the game. It’s worthy of so much more!
